The harnesses are designed for children from the age of one. They are formally tested to BS EN 13210:2004 up until the age of four years. We believe the useful age for these products are up to three, so this is what we state.
The backpacks are designed for children from the age of three to five years approximately.
No, only the Toddler Backpacks have a rein or are tested as a rein. The Kids versions are not deemed to require a rein.
This is the most common question we get at LittleLife Headquarters. It is difficult to pin down exactly as everyone has a different requirement, but we’ve created a child carrier comparison chart and some comments to narrow down the best products for you.
If the main use of your carrier is around town, then you would want a smaller carrier that is not too cumbersome. LittleLife carriers are amongst the most compact on the market and we would recommend the Ranger or the Adventurer in this case. If you were to also use the carrier for slightly longer walks at the weekend in the country, then you should consider the Cross Country.
If walks are planned to go a bit further, or you just feel that you will have lots more stuff to take then The Freedom and Voyager are both great choices. The Voyager also comes with a Rain Cover so if you are considering a rain cover, do take this into account as the Voyager might prove to be the best value.
If travelling on planes or trains, the Traveller is the perfect candidate. It is ideal for use on holiday and you can use it as a general backpack on the flight over. It is also perfect for walking around town but has less size adjustability than the Ranger and Adventurer.
Yes, they should have their chin at the height of the bumper pad and therefore be able to see over your shoulder.
We recommend that back carriers are used from the point at which the child can easily support their head. This is around 6 months.
Rather than an age of child, we rate our carriers with weight of child. Most of our carriers are rated up to 20kg; the Traveller S4 is the exception at 15kg. Generally we recommend up to three years of age, but this will vary from child to child and depends on how much weight you are prepared to carry!
Yes, you will be a little unsure to start with, but as soon as you realise you just need to keep it upright, it is easy. Take a look at our carrier fitting videos.
Yes, we have carriers that can cope with people from 5’2” to 6’4” but do keep in mind that there is more variation in the leg than the back. See the child carrier comparison chart for more of a guide.
